The bulky figure of the saint is seated against a rocky cave. The episodes to the left narrate his life and flight into the desert. To the lower right he crosses the river Jordan accompanied by his disciple Elisha. The upper part of the image represents the Prophet’s heavenly ascent on a quadriga with winged horses, the Lord of Sabaoth emerges from the clouds in blessing and holding an orb mounted with the instruments of the Passion.
